On Thursday 3rd October we joined charity groups, businesses and community members from the local area to celebrate Northwich being named a Makaton friendly town.

We are the first town in the North West to be awarded the status which was achieved thanks to businesses in Northwich making their services more accessible and user friendly for people who find it difficult to communicate.

Overall 30 businesses have been involved in the training process with more than 200 people signing up to get on board with the Makaton initiative.

It was all made possible thanks to the Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group with funding from ourselves, Northwich Rotary Club, Vale Royal Rotary Club, Northwich Town Council and Cheshire Community Foundation.
